On Saturday, October 4, 2014, over 200 volunteers joined the Jackson Medical Mall Foundation staff and Humana to build a new place for children to play. It was accomplished in a day. The project was in partnership with KaBOOM!, the national nonprofit dedicated to giving children the childhood they deserve by providing a playground to those who need it most. The customized, multigenerational playground, funded primarily by Humana Inc. was created with personal drawings and input from local community members – from children to seniors. Many children and families in areas surrounding the Jackson Medical Mall do not have adequate play spaces readily available in their communities. This new playground and multi-generational exercise station effectively addresses those needs, providing the youth with an age-appropriate area to play, and opportunities for seniors to interact with each other and the community.
