National Night Out was designed to strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. The goal is to heighten crime prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The Jackson Medical Mall Foundation hosted its Annual Richard F. Polk Christmas Parade onThursday, December 1, 2016, in conjunction with a special World AIDS Day Observance. With the theme of The Polar Express, parade goers had the opportunity to embark on a magical adventure to the North Pole.

The observance included a special presentation, and the writing and reading of names of persons who have lost their battle in fighting HIV, persons who are living with HIV, and persons who have devoted time and efforts in “Getting to Zero” on the Remembrance Board. The Jackson Medical Mall Foundation sponsors a bi-annual Neighborhood Cleanup Day. This event is one of the Foundation’s many efforts in making a difference in the Jackson Medical Mall District. Neighborhood residents, community volunteers, and Jackson Medical Mall employees assist in the cleanup. Volunteers spend time picking up paper, fallen limbs, removing old tires and other debris to help beautify the neighborhood.
More than 500 children were provided with back to school essentials during the Jackson Medical Mall’s first JumpStart: The Back to School Jam. JumpStart was the city of Jackson’s earliest Back to School event and took place on July 16th. The mission for JumpStart was to provide children with the essentials that they need to have a jumpstart into the new school year with the necessities like health screening, immunizations and school supplies, all while celebrating the arts.
The state of Mississippi requires children to receive immunizations prior to starting school. The Jackson Medical Mall, in partnership with the Hinds County Health Department, provided immunizations for school-age children during JumpStart.
In addition to the health and recreational services that were provided, JumpStart afforded youth a platform to exhibit their talent and artistic abilities in a visual art contest and a performing arts talent showcase. High kicks, high notes and high energy defined the event’s grand finale, the talent show hosted by actor and singer Jacob Latimore. Winners received cash prizes and backpacks filled with school supplies.
A special thanks goes to the judges, volunteers and sponsors who contributed to the success of this event.
