  1. Computer Literacy – Must have a mastery of word-processing software and must be proficient at Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Internet Explorer and other database systems.
  2. Writing Skills – Must demonstrate a proficiency in the inscription of correspondences, memos and project reports.
  3. Oral Communications Skills – Must be proficient to efficiently speak with staff, tenants, vendors, contractors and patrons.
  4. System Skills - Knowledge of the overall mission, functions, and organization of the agency or component, including agency program operations, processes, goals, and objectives.
  5. Organizational Skills - Persistence in verbal and written communication skills, and administrative/business skills.

  2. Strong interpersonal skills are also exceptionally imperative. Must be able to communicate with a diverse group of individuals due to the interaction from all demographics.
  3. Exceptional personnel management skills are needed as to motivate a team of trade professionals who will perform their duties under little or no supervision. Must also possess problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and manage project budgets.
  4. Exceptional program management skills to implement a data-driven system of grant’s goals, outcomes, performance measurement and strategies.


This position pays a competitive salary.  JMMF will pay for health, dental and life insurance and allow employee to participate in a deferred compensation system.  JMMF provides semiannual performance reviews for all employees.  Employee earns one week of vacation after six months and a second week after a full year.  JMMF provides nine paid holidays for this position.


The Director will:

  1. Report directly to the Executive Director.
  2. Lead, organize, manage, administer and supervise all grant activities, including goals, objectives, strategies and evaluation.
  3. Supervise personnel management of staff, contractors and evaluation team, including recruitment and selection process, and a written evaluation process that complies with JMMF Thad Cochran Employee Handbook. Recommend the continued employment, discipline, or dismissal of all grant p personnel.
  4. Collaborate with partners identified in the grant and engage additional partners as required.
  5. Develop and implement overall workplan/workflow for grant’s individual initiatives and overall implementation in coordination with staff.
  6. In collaboration with the external evaluator, recommend internal grant improvements and corrective actions; Supervise internal collection of data collection/evaluations and staff and contractors’ responsibilities for data collection/evaluation.
  7. Develop and supervise work and vacation schedules for all facilities employees.
  8. Provide a regular program of staff development to promote evidence-best practices, ethics, grant compliance, evaluation and other activities.
  9. Implement and modify, if required, the budget, including necessary documentation.
  10. Assist in the development and submission of grants to sustain the program.
  11. Assist in the development marketing, communications and community engagement activities.
  12. Provide and monitor a system of record keeping and reporting, including assistance with grant’s annual report and final report.
  13. With guidance from the Grant Finance Director, maintain a system of financial records, financial protocols, controls, and accounting procedures for the implantation of the grant in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable regulations, submitting all reports in a timely fashion.
  14. Maintain the Fixed Assets Inventory, following the requirements of GAAP.
  15. Maintain an inventory control system and purchases supplies, parts, and equipment through the established bid or price quote process that follows JMMF purchasing policy, federal, state and local regulations.
  16. Operate electronic and other equipment needed to carry out job functions and responsibilities. Uses computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
  17. Maintain effective communications with patrons, staff, and contractors to elicit support and to seek perceptions and ideas for the improvement of the program
  18. Attend required meetings and serve, as appropriate on staff committees.
  19. Notify and assist the administration and appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, and potentially dangerous or unusual situations.
  20. Understand and communicate current developments in the evidence-based and emergence practices through reading, participation in appropriate workshops or meetings, and involvement in professional organizations.
  21. Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with patrons, tenants, staff, and outside agencies associated with the Jackson Medical Mall Foundation.
  22. Serve as a role model for all staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic.
  23. All JMMF employees are required to sign and follow the approved confidentiality agreement.
  24. Observe strictly, to avoid the appearance of conflict, regarding conflicts of interest in employment, purchasing, and other decisions, including solicitation and acceptance of gifts and favors, and submit in a timely fashion the required annual disclosure statement regarding employment and financial interests.
  25. Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; Preferred Master’s Degree.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years recent administrative and managerial experience which demonstrates the ability/knowledge to provide leadership for planning, development and operations of a complex facility. Management of grants, programs and data-driven performance are a plus.

Experience should include:

  • Considerable recent applicable experience in program/grant management, including a significant management role.
  • Knowledgeable of all phases of grant planning and management ranging from program design to budgeting to evaluation.
  • Experience managing the fiscal resources of a multi-initiative grant.
  • Ability to lead, organize, coordinate, and supervise a diverse professional staff, including mid-level managers, assistants and contractors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to impart quality customer service principles into the organization.
  • Creativity, vision, and sensitivity to lead a multi-initiative grant.
